Golden Temple

One of the most famous places to visit in Amritsar is The Golden Temple, which is a beautiful worshipping place of Sikhs. It is also known as Harmindar Sahib or Darbar Sahib.

The Dome/roof of this temple is made up of pure gold that is the reason for calling it the Golden temple. This temple is surrounded by a lake which was built by fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das in 1577 and is known as Amrit Sarovar. To reach the temple you need to follow a pathway, which gives a feeling of walking on water and the fishes in the lake immense pleasure and freshness.

Earlier, this temple was built by Sikhs guru, Guru Nanak Sahib who used to meditate here. At that time the temple-tomb was not of gold. In the 19th Century, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh renovated this temple completely and the tomb was gold coated by him.

Golden temple is undoubtedly an impeccable centre of attraction in the world.
